DESCRIPTION:Headway North Cumbria will be lunching at the Toby Carvery\, 491 Warwick Rd\, Carlisle CA1 2SB on Monday 7 September 2026.  We will meet there from 12:45 for lunch at 13:00. \nCost will be £7 a head for the carvery\, or alternative main.  Diners can also upgrade to a two course or three course meal at an additional £2 for a starter and/or £2 for a pudding from Toby Carvery’s weekday set menu.  Diners can also opt for the unlimited soft drinks from the soda fountain at £2 but all other drinks\, including tea & coffee\, are not included and will need to be purchased from the bar. \n \nTo participate members will need to sign up for the event with the Secretary\, select which option(s) they would like for each course from the menus below\, and pay in advance.  Closing date to sign up is 31 August 2026. \n \nIf you wish to participate\, please sign up for the event at the Day Centre\, by text or call to 07508 111834\, or by e-mail to northcumbria@headway.org.uk

SUMMARY:Look Ahead in the North (LAN) 2027
DESCRIPTION:Look Ahead in the North is the annual residential weekend run by Headway at Calvert Kielder in the beautiful Kielder Water and Forest Park\, Northumberland.  The 2027 event will be held over the period 12-14 March 2027.  The last time Headway North Cumbria participated at the event was in 2023. \nThe programme for the weekend has yet to be published but\, in line with previous years\, is likely to run from 16:00 on Friday 12 March 2027 until 13:00 on Sunday 14 March 2027.  A range of activities will be laid on which\, should the programme of the past few years be followed\, may include activities such as: \n\nQuiz\nLive Music\nKaraoke\nCalvert Trust Activities – King Swing\, Zip Wire\, ZipCoaster\, High Ropes\, Indoor Climbing Wall\, Archery\, Axe Throwing\, Motor Boat\, Golf Buggy rides\, Laser Clay Shooting and Giant Chess.\nHolistic Therapies\nAfrican Drumming Workshop\nBird of Prey Demonstration\nLAN’s Got Talent\nRaffle/Auction\nCreative Crafts\n\n \nThe cost for Headway North Cumbria members\, carers and support workers to attend the weekend will be £150 per person. \nHeadway North Cumbria\, like the other Headway groups and branches in the region\, will need to bid for places on this weekend.  In order to gauge the level of interest in participation\, any members that might wish to attend should notify Natalie or Julian Simpson by 31 August 2026.  This can be d \none at the Day Centre\, by e-mail to northcumbria@headway.org.uk\, or by text or by phone (07508 111834).  \nPlease note that expressing interest at this stage does not commit you to sign-up for the weekend when we formally ask for applications\, nor will it necessarily guarantee you a place when places are allocated. \n \nPhotos from our last visit can be seen in the slideshow below:
