On Monday 7 September 2026 twenty-six members of Headway North Cumbria met for lunch at the Toby Carvery in Carlisle. Attendees enjoyed the carvery, or alternative main, and had the option of adding a starter and/or a dessert from the Toby Carvery Meal Deal. Our group was accommodated in a section of the restaurant that had been reserved for us.
Faced with a prospect of a substantial main course only nine of our diners opted for a starter with the cheesy mushrooms and the onion and shallot tarte tatin proving to be the most popular choices.

Unsurprisingly twenty-two of our diners opted for the carvery which had a choice of roast pork, gammon, turkey and roast beef accompanied by a wide range of steamed and roasted vegetables. The remaining four opted for the alternative mains which included salmon and dill wellington, melt in the middle roast and cheese, potato and leek pie.

For half of our diners there was room for pudding with toffee apple crumble, seasonal sponge and chocolate & cookie dough brownies all proving popular. One opted for the dairy ice cream with toffee sauce.

Everyone had a good meal, enjoyed engaging conversation and left feeling full and happy.
